I was born to stitch! The first thing I did was get Ginnie and Ken Thompson for parents ;-). They also gave birth to an industry that swept the country, creating a passion for counted thread from coast to coast. I joined the company (Ginnie Thompson Originals) as Art Director, then worked my way up to General Manager and finally Vice President of Operations. Together we published Needlewords, a magazine about cross stitch and my parents' trips to Denmark to study with the Danish Handcraft Guild.
When they retired to teach fulltime, I got the teaching "bug" too and went to work with Designs by Gloria & Pat where Pat Carson nurtured my interest in becmoing an instructor of needlearts. Besides excellent guidance from my parents and Pat, I have been privileged to study with Danish experts, have been featured as guest celebrity at Creative Arts and Textiles Shows, and attended many other festivals nationwide as both instructor and hostess of special events. I began the Flower Thread Company in 1992. I live in South Carolina with my computer-expert husband and just can't stitch fast enough for all I want to do! |
I love to stitch! I specialize in Hardanger and Danish Counted Thread designs, including pulled, drawn and cut-work, Hedebo, Hvidsom, and Needle-weaving but I also love quick-and-easy just-cross-stitch projects. I love to teach! I host my own sampler retreat in the fall in Myrtle Beach SC called Seaside Stitchers Retreat. I teach all skill levels at a super-fun Camp Stitchaway in the mountains of North Carolina in the spring. I love Flower Thread! Althought most of my designs are also coded for DMC and Anchor, my models are made with Ginnie Thompson Flower Thread. I also teach in print with step-by-step illustrated instructions and strive to maintain the highest standards in my published work. You'll find my illustrated techniques in EGA special publications and Needle Arts magazine, designs and stories in Cross Stitcher magazine and my own designs in charts and books. |
